Identity & MPEs (CE Course)

$45.00

This introductory level class is designed to help therapists assist clients dealing with the identity confusion and bewilderment stemming from a misattributed parentage experience including a surprise DNA discovery. This course will present practitioners with information regarding identity formation and the dimensions of personal identity. The dimensions of personal identity are used as a paradigm for examining the opportunities and avenues for assistance with identity issues after an MPE. We will then develop an understanding of how not knowing a person’s genetic identity can lead to genetic bewilderment. A review of the 14 dimensions of identity combined with Erikson’s Stages of Psychological Development informs how a person with an MPE sense of identity is disrupted. Using these concepts, we can help patients with an MPE rebuild a new sense of identity.

This course is taught by Jodi Klugman-Rabb, MA, LMFT, PsyD.
